Description
The Non-Rotating Float Collar & Shoe is a specialized casing float equipment used in primary cementing operations for oil and gas wells. Featuring a non-rotating anti-rotation plate where a multi-tooth non-rotating wiper plug lands, this design helps reduce drill-out time and improve drill-out efficiency after cementing.
Float collars and shoes are essential downhole components in casing strings. They provide a check-valve function to prevent cement backflow and offer a seating point for cement wiper plugs, ensuring effective zonal isolation and cement displacement during well completion operations.
Product Overview
A float shoe is installed at the bottom of the casing string to guide the casing into the wellbore, provide buoyancy to ease casing running, and prevent cement from flowing back into the casing after placement. A float collar is positioned one or two joints above the float shoe to provide a secondary back-pressure valve and a plug landing seat. Together, they ensure complete primary cementing performance and improve cement bond quality.
The non-rotating design integrates an internal anti-rotation profile and non-rotating plate that works with compatible non-rotating wiper plugs, preventing rotation during drill-out and enabling faster, cleaner operations.
Key Features & Advantages
Non-Rotating Anti-Rotation Plate
Features a plastic non-rotating plate where a multi-tooth non-rotating wiper plug lands, preventing rotation and reducing drill-out time.Float Collar & Shoe Combination
Provides both back-pressure prevention and casing guidance, helping maintain cement placement and zonal isolation.Backflow Prevention Check Valve
The internal check valve prevents cement slurry from reentering the casing after displacement has ceased.Improved Operational Efficiency
Non-rotation performance leads to reduced tool wear, lower rig time, and easier drill-out of plugs.Broad Application
Suitable for a range of oil and gas well conditions, including intermediate and production casing cementing.

Primary casing cementing of oil and gas wells
Situations where fast plug drill-out is required
Cementing operations with high backpressure demands
Onshore and offshore well completion projects
It provides a check-valve function to prevent cement backflow and serves as landing points for cement wiper plugs during primary cementing, ensuring effective annular isolation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What is a float collar & shoe used for?
A float collar and float shoe are used in primary casing cementing to guide casing into the wellbore, prevent cement backflow, and provide plug seating surfaces.
Q2: How does the non-rotating design improve performance?
The non-rotating anti-rotation plate stops rotation during drill-out of plugs, reducing bit wear and rig time, and enabling faster, cleaner plug removal.
Q3: What size options are available?
This model is available in multiple casing sizes, from 5″ to 13-3/8″, with backpressure ratings up to 35 MPa.
Q4: Why are float collars and shoes important for primary cementing?
They help establish and maintain zonal isolation by preventing backflow of cement and assisting in effective displacement of cement slurry in the annulus.
