  • Incorporate a spring-loaded check valve, provide prevent the effective flowing back of cement from the annulus to the inner of the casing
  • Withstand long periods of circulation with highly abrasive fluids
  • Demand any well conditions-vertical, highly-deviated, horizontal well, extreme temperature and pressure ranges, sour gas
  • Large flow area minimizes pressure drop and erosion during circulation
  • Inner components are made from plastic & cement and can be drilled easily and fast with conventional or PDC bits

Product Overview

The regular float collar and shoe is the standard float equipment configuration for primary casing cementing programs that do not call for a specialty activation or placement system.

In the casing string, the float shoe is installed at the bottom and the float collar is positioned above it within the shoe track. The two items may be requested separately or as a complete set, according to the procurement requirement.

Key Features

Spring-Loaded Check Valve

Supports one-way fluid control and helps prevent reverse flow after cement displacement.

Drillable Internal Components

Plastic and cement-based internal components support the planned drill-out stage after cementing.

Conventional or PDC Drill-Out

The drillable configuration is designed for subsequent drill-out using conventional or PDC bits.

Six Listed Casing Sizes

The current on-page specifications cover 5", 5-1/2", 7", 9-5/8", 10-3/4" and 13-3/8".

How the Regular Float Collar & Shoe Works

01 — CASING RUNNING

Positioned in the casing string

The float shoe is placed at the bottom of the string, with the float collar located above it in the shoe track.

02 — DISPLACEMENT

Allows intended flow

The check-valve arrangement allows flow in the intended direction during cement displacement.

03 — AFTER DISPLACEMENT

Helps limit reverse flow

After displacement, the check valve helps prevent fluid from flowing back into the casing.

04 — DRILL-OUT

Internal parts are drilled

The drillable internal components can be removed during the subsequent planned drill-out operation.

Applications

Standard Primary Casing Cementing

For purchasing programs that specify regular or standard float equipment for primary casing cementing.

Conventional Programs Without Specialty Activation

For projects that do not call for an auto-fill, non-rotating, stab-in or other specialty configuration.

When to Choose Regular Float Equipment

Use the product name stated in the project specification as the first selection boundary. If a specialty configuration is required, continue to the relevant product page instead of treating it as regular float equipment.

Procurement FAQ

What is a regular float collar and shoe?

It is the regular or standard float equipment configuration for primary casing cementing programs without a specified specialty activation or placement system.

What sizes are listed on this page?

The listed sizes are 5", 5-1/2", 7", 9-5/8", 10-3/4" and 13-3/8". Refer to the specification table for the associated Max O.D., I.D., flow path and back-pressure data.

When should I use regular rather than specialty float equipment?

This page corresponds to a regular or standard requirement. If the project specification calls for non-rotating, auto-fill, stab-in or double-valve equipment, use the applicable specialty product route for technical confirmation.

What information should I send for a quotation?

Send the casing size, required item, quantity, required configuration and the available project specification or drawing. These details allow product and quotation confirmation.
